Sandhill Performance Horses is the result of the merging of two distinctly different disciplines, pleasure and trail being slow and precise, and reining and ranch riding being speed and grit. Over the years we have come to appreciate both the differences of our horses, and recognize the sameness in the qualities that make a great horse.

 

We have worked hard the past two decades to bring to North Dakota the most elite bloodlines in the quarter horse industry. To say this has been an adventure of a lifetime is an understatement. You can rest assured that you can drive far and wide before finding this much quality at one farm. We have learned a lot of valuable lessons regarding the importance of the maternal line, whether it’s the broodmares, the stallions we stand, or the stallions we breed to. Not only do we value great bloodlines, but more importantly we value great producers. Our mares have been the backbone of Sandhill, and we look forward to watching their offspring continue to excel, with many of them going beyond our biggest expectations.

 

Even with the goal being world class contenders, we value the horses competing at local levels and with novice, youth, and select riders. It is of the utmost importance that every horse gets a chance to prove their talents. Nothing can replace that special horse that teaches your child to ride, or brings home their first ribbon.

 

Last but not least, every real working ranch would not be complete without a good working dog.  Using the same breeding principles, Sandhill Border Collies has become a standard of excellence for working livestock, and a better working companion cannot be found.
